Cecile Fetzer

Cecile D Fetzer (Bauer) was called home by her heavenly family on Monday January 7th, 2013 surrounded by her family at her home. Memorial services will be held on Saturday January 12th, 2013 at First Congregational Church 35 2nd Ave NE, Garrison, ND at 2:00pm.

Cecile D Fetzer (Bauer) was born on March 18th, 1937 to Fred and Mable (Lee) Bauer in Minot, N.D. She attended school in Minot, graduating in 1955. She worked as an Operating Room Assistant until meeting and marrying the love of her life, Alvin A Fetzer on June 5th 1955. They made their home in Minot, and Garrison, ND, until Alvin was transferred to Fargo, ND by Midwest Motor Express. For 42 years, they made a home in Moorhead, MN, then returning to Garrison, ND in 2007. They raised three children, Michael, Kathryn, and Lisa.

Cecile was a very active person. She worked for years, for the American Red Cross, teaching CPR and First Aid classes. She also worked at the Fargo/Moorhead Convention and Visitors Bureau, the North Dakota 100th Year Centennial Celebration, including the Centennial Wagon Trail and the Parade. She helped organize Christmas on the Prairie at Bonanzaville and also volunteered with numerous other organizations. She was an active member of the Teamster Local 116 Ladies Auxiliary.

Cecile’s greatest love was her family. She was extremely passionate about spending quality time with all of them. She taught them to have fun the old fashion way, playing board games, card games, dress up and other games that would stretch their imaginations. Many trips were documented with journals and pictures. As her children, Michael, Kathryn, and Lisa grew up, she enjoyed watching them participate in school programs, sporting events, 4-H and youth horse shows. One of her proudest moments was winning grand champion for her choke cherry wine at the local fairs.

Cecile had many hobbies, including sewing, baking, crocheting, painting, and of course gardening. She loved to spend time in the garden and make use of her “green thumb”. She was an avid bird watcher and animal lover. Her love for spending time outdoors also provided her with the opportunity to make lots of “furry friends”. She took in many stray animals of all sorts, including a few humans! Her kind and caring heart helped raise money for numerous projects.
