Albert was born May 13, 1923 to Edward and Helena (Eisenbeis) Mautz. He grew up on the farm 12 miles east of Garrison and attended country school in Snow Township. His dad died when he was 8 years old, which taught him responsibility and to be independent at a young age.
Albert married Etta Ann Struwing on March 2, 1963. They worked hard on the farm milking cows, raising small grains, cattle, pigs, and chickens. Etta died on June 9, 2000.
Albert enjoyed bowling, polka music, playing accordion, going cattle sales, playing pinochle, and watching baseball. He lived on the farm his entire life until moving to the Garrison Memorial Hospital Nursing Facility in October of 2014.
The family would like to give their sincere thanks to the very caring staff at the nursing facility for taking good care of Dad and especially keeping an eye on his "candy bar supply"!
Albert is survived by his daughter, Denise Mautz (Robert Witt); son, Dennis Mautz (Sandy Sayler); grandchildren, Cassidee Sayler and Trevor Mautz; stepson, Mark Struwing; sisters, Lydia McKee, Emma Mathias; brothers-in-law, George Cederstrom, Bruce (Jean) Cederstrom; sisters-in-law, Arlene (Dale) Morrow, LaVerna Cederstrom; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Etta, parents, Edward and Helena, brothers, Reuben, Fred, and Herbert Mautz, and his stepson, James Struwing.
In Lieu of flowers the family prefers memorial to the Garrison Memorial Hospital Nursing Facility or St. Paul Lutheran Church in Garrison.
