Obituary
Allen Beierle, 67 of Garrison, died Monday, April 13, 2015 after a battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 16 at 11:00 am at the First Congregational Church in Garrison. Burial will be at the Garrison cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5 to 8 at the First Congregational Church in Garrison.
Allen James Beierle was born August 9, 1947 in Bismarck, ND to Albert and Bernice (Fenley) Beierle. He was raised in Garrison and graduated from Garrison High School. He married Frances Miller in 1967. Allen and Fran began to make their home together in Minot where Allen worked for the ND DOT. In 1974, Allen and family relocated back to Garrison to join his father Albert in Beierle Builders, a small construction firm, which later purchased and ran Stephens Lumber Co. until 1984. Allen later worked as head custodian at the Garrison High School and in 1997 he began AB Construction which he operated until his death.
Allen fulfilled many civic roles in the community including President of the Civic Club, Board member of the ND Governor's Cup Walleye Derby, Garrison School Board Member, Garrison City Councilman and Mayor of Garrison from 2004 to 2006.
Allen was a skilled artisan and craftsman. His carpentry had an impact in some way on many homes in the area with the work he did. He applied his artistic eye and hand to his pencil sketches, oil paintings and wood carvings. Annually, he hand carved a Christmas ornament for each of his grandchildren creating a much anticipated keepsake each Christmas. His pride overflowed when talking about any and all of his eight grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years Fran, and their 3 children and 8 grandchildren. April (Ray) Evans of Aurora, CO and their children Corey, Nathan and Mariah. David (Heide) Beierle of Valley City, ND and their children Sam, Rachel and Sara. Elizabeth (Tom) Fleming of Sabin, MN and their children Anna and Owen. Mother Bernice of Garrison, brothers Roy (Darlene) Beierle of Kingston, TX and Richard Beierle of Hampton, VA. Brothers and sisters-in-law Marilyn and Gary Bader, Jerry and Mary Miller and Frank Penrod and special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Albert, brother John, and sister Jo Marie "Jodi" Penrod.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to the donor's choice.
