Arthur Engel, 88, Garrison, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at a Garrison hospital. Memorial services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 am at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Garrison. Burial will be at the Garrison City Cemetery.

Arthur was born July 30, 1924 on the family farm northeast of Garrison, ND. He was born to Wilhelm and Emelia (Webber) Engel. He was raised and educated in McLean County. He married Esther Metz on August 16, 1953. Following their marriage they stayed on the family farm. He was a successful farmer, rancher, and truly loved his horses.

Arthur was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren. Great grandpa enjoyed watching his great grandkids. He was a very dedicated lifetime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Garrison.
Arthur is survived by his wife, Esther, Garrison, sons, Tim (Sue) Engel, Beulah, ND, Rod (Liz) Engel, Brighton, CO; grandchildren, Chad Engel and his special friend, Andrea, Plymouth, MN, Amy (Dave) Cline, Kasson, MN, Desirae Engel and her special friend, Mike, Beulah, ND, Ryan Berry, Westminister, CO, Katherine "Katie" Berry and her special friend, David, Brighton, CO; greatgrandchildren, Kyran Engel and Kayven Mohl, Beulah, ND, Madisyn Berry, Brighton, CO; siblings, Ella O'shea, Leslie Engel, Wilhelm "Bill" Engel Jr., and Cleone Westby; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Christ Engel, Katherine Sayler, Clara Sayler, Frieda McElwein, Millie Drayton, and an infant sister, Othilia Engel.
