Arthur Paulson III, 63, New Town, died on Monday, June 30 at the VA hospital in Fargo. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:00 am at the New Town Civic Center in New Town. Wake services will be held on Thursday beginning at 5:00 pm at the New Town Civic Center.
Arthur Harry Paulson III, neetAhkarani (Spotted Tail) was born in San Francisco, California on September 29, 1950. He was raised by his grandfather and grandmother Mamie (Perkins) and Joseph Packineau. His mother was Vivian and father was Arthur, Jr. He went to school at Immaculate Conception Indian Mission School at Stephan, South Dakota. He graduated from New Town High School in 1968. He enlisted in the Army on April 3, 1970 and was honorably discharged in 1973. Art was a Sergeant in the Special Forces and was a Communication Expert. He received three Bronze Service Stars and a Purple Heart. He is a member of the American Legion Post 290, New Town, N.D.
He met Monica Fox and made a life with her in 1978. He was blessed to have two daughters Winona Dobbs and Heather Musil and a son Sheldon was born to their union.
He started in the oil field right out of high school and after serving in the Army, he made the oil field his career. He started out as a roustabout and worked as a driller and tool pusher. He worked for Well Pro, Amerada Hess, Cardinal, and many others too numerous to name.
He is survived by his children, Winona (George) Good Left; Heather (Tim) Belgarde and son Sheldon Paulson and his grandchildren Najai, Nytrice,and Nycembi and other grandchildren, nieces and nephews; his sisters' Ali Norrbom , Santa Cruz CA., and Susan Paulson, New Town, ND., Marmie Hamamoto, Tuscon Az. , Jolene Begay, Albuquerque N.M., Caroline Rhodes, Pendleton, OR. Marilyn Howling Wolf, Sedro Woolley WA., Renita Howling Wolf and Sonja Berget of New Town, ND. his brothers, Mike Howling Wolf of Anacortes, WA and Carroll Howling Wolf of New Town, ND.
He was preceded in death by his granddaughter Nycoy Paulson and brother Hugh Drags Wolf, Jr.
