Obituary

Beatrice Mabel Charging, 91, Tahlequah, OK, formerly of rural White Shield, died on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 in Tahlequah. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Garrison. A rosary was said on Tuesday, June 27, at 7:00 pm at the church.

Beatrice was born September 4, 1925 on a farm near Roseglen, ND to George and Mabel (Forde) Giddings. She attended a country school and later graduated from Ryder High School. She continued her education at Trinity Nursing School in Minot earning her degree as a Registered Nurse. She then went to work with the Cadet Nurse Corp and started her career in Belcourt, ND. She then went to work at the hospital in Elbowoods, ND where she met George Duane Charging, who happened to be visiting his sick mother. They were married on February 25, 1950 at St. Mary's Cathedral in Fargo, ND. They moved back to Elbowoods where they lived until the flooding of Lake Sakakawea in 1954 when they moved to their ranch 40 miles west of White Shield. They ranched and raised their family for many years.

Beatrice later moved to South Dakota and continued her nursing career working at several different VA hospitals and nursing homes. In 1983 she moved to Tahlequah, OK where she eventually retired in 1994 after over 20 years as a registered nurse.

Beatrice truly enjoyed her retirement. She took the time to do a lot of reading. She also loved nature and finally had the time to enjoy it. In her later years she liked to run and ran in many local events, even into her mid 60's. She was a bit of a history buff and would visit many historical sites. Her favorite thing to do in her retirement however, was traveling, especially to see her children, grandchildren, and family.

Beatrice is survived by her children, Mary (Harry) Oosahwee, Tahlequah, OK, Mark Charging, Wahpeton, Amy Zephier, Lincoln, NE, Stanley Charging, Crystal, MN, Carol (Tyke) Danks, New Town, Russell Charging, Fargo, Donna (Hank) Taken Alive, McLaughin, SD, Nancy (John) Cohen, Missoula, MT, Steve Charging, Brookings, SD, and Robert (Terri Lynn) Charging, Aurora, SD; 32 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; and many family and friends in North Dakota.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, George Duane Charging, daughter, Janice Kerzmann, and brother, Raymond Giddings.

The family of Beatrice would like everyone to please honor their mother by remembering to pray the rosary every day for someone they love.
