Belva Rime, 93, Garrison, died on Friday, March 9 at a Garrison hospital. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 am at Peace Lutheran Church in Garrison. Burial will be at the Garrison City Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 9 to 7 at Thompson Funeral Home in Garrison.
Belva A. Rime was born on September 24, 1918 in Garrison, ND to Fred A. and Anna (Frank) Krueger. She was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Garrison and attended grade school at the Hackett School District in rural Garrison. She graduated from Garrison High School in 1937.
On September 24, 1939 she received her best birthday present ever, marrying Francis "Fuzzy" Rime, in Garrison. They made their home on a farm west of Garrison and raised their two sons, Richard and Fred.
While living on the farm, Belva was very active as a volunteer for just about everything. She organized the first girls 4H Club in the Emmett community, and helped organize and later became a charter member of the Roundtable Homemakers Club. She was a Farmer's Union Youth Leader and was also on the board for over 31 years. She volunteered at the Garrison Nursing Home from its existence and also donated her time at the Garrison Resource Center for 9 years. Belva's church was extremely important to her. She was a lifetime member of Peace Lutheran Church in Garrison and was active on the LWML. She taught Sunday school for 20 years and held many positions on various church boards.
Belva is survived by her sons, Fred M. (Beth) Rime, Houston, Missouri, Dr. Richard A. (Sharon) Rime, Garrison; grandchildren, David (Tina) Rime, Dawn (Mitch) Knoke, and Wyatt Rime; a great granddaughter, Olivia Knoke; brother, George (Ione) Krueger, brother-in-law, Leonard Hoffman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Francis, granddaughter, 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
