Obituary

Bergatta Pederson, 93, Bismarck, formerly of Roseglen, died on Friday, Feb. 17 at a Bismarck nursing home. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 am at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Roseglen. Burial will be at the East Immanuel Cemetery in Roseglen.

Visitation will be held on Friday until the time of services at the church.

Bergatta was born on October 5, 1918 in Harlem, MT to Albert and Judith (Holman) Olson. She was raised and educated in Minot, ND, graduating from Minot Model High School and also earning a degree from Helen's Beauty School. She worked as a Professional Beauty Operator at Helen's Beauty Shop and was also 1 of 2 of the first nurse's aides hired as part of a pilot program at Trinity Hospital in Minot. Bergatta is quoted as saying, "We must have done pretty well for as many aides as there are now"! On November 11, 1938 Bergatta married Lloyd Pederson in Fort Peck, MT. They made their home and raised their family on a farmstead in rural Roseglen, where one year they received the McLean County Conservation Award. During their years on the farm they found time to relax at their cabin at Deepwater Bay on Lake Sakakawea. In later years they spent the winter months at Victoria Palms in Donna, TX.

Bergatta was very busy with the farm and the Roseglen community. She was a wonderful cook and baker and shared her talents with Farmer's Union Summer Camps for Ward, Renville, McHenry and Mclean Counties. Her cooking was also much appreciated at home where she was especially famous for her pies and "Grandma Buns". She as an active member of the Roseglen Homemakers for 62 years. She was a 4H leader and worked with the Community Chest for 15 years. As a member of Immanuel Church she served as Sunday School Teacher, and was active in the ladies aide and church council. When she wasn't wearing all these hats, she was also an avid card player.

Bergatta is survived by one daughter, Peggy (Ronald) Bosworth, Bismarck; grandchildren, Kelly (Rick) Tidd, Keith (Lori) Yahnke, Kasey (Ginny) Yahnke, Karmin (Jeff) Thompson, Roman(Kate) Bosworth, and Shelly (Mike) Flakker; 8 great grandchildren; son-in-law, Gerald Yahnke, Roseglen; brother, Burton (Margaret) Olson, Minot; sister, Arlene (Doran) Glasoe, Minot.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd, one daughter, Rosalie Yahnke, brother, Arlo Olson, sisters, Wilma Bredvick, Melba Haugeberg, and Phyllis Bowen.
