Bernice McArthur, 87, Garrison, formerly of Mandan, died peacefully on Easter Sunday, April 1, 2018 at the Garrison Memorial Hospital Nursing Facility in Garrison.
Memorial services will be held on Friday at 1:30 pm at the Garrison Memorial Hospital Nursing Facility Chapel.
Bernice was born December 11, 1930 in Crookston, MN, the daughter of Louie and Gina (Veland) Vigness. In 1937, she moved with her parents to Bottineau, ND where she was raised and educated.
Bernice married Duane Wruck in October of 1948. From this union, 5 children were born. They made their home in Mandan where Bernice worked for the Elks Club for 15 years. She was also active in the March of Dimes for many years.
In February of 1967, Bernice married Norman McArthur. They remained in Mandan and in 1984, Bernice started a daycare in her home, which she ran for 14 years. She loved little children and she was so easy for them to love her back. She also cared for the elderly for a few years.
Bernice loved to listen to gospel music and watch videos of gospel music being performed. Her grandson, Ryan McArthur, made a gospel cd for her, which she treasured.
Bernice is survived by her son, Kevin (Rose) Wruck, Billings, MT; her daughters, Georgia (Ray) Keller, Fargo, Kim Keller, Jamestown; her grandchildren, Ryan McArthur, Chad & Brandon Keller, Amy Martin~Hendrickson, and Josh Wruck; great~grandchildren, Callahan, Keairah, and Kambryn McArthur, Cayden Keller, Ella & Easton Martin; one sister, Agnes Sund, Eagle River, Alaska; one brother, Emery (Joan) Vigness, Arnegard, ND.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Louie & Gina Vigness, her first husband,
Duane Wruck, her second husband, Norman McArthur, 3 children, Brenda, Eunice, and Dayton Wruck, 3 sisters, Clarice Kofoid, Ethel Carlson, and Gladys Johnson, and 2 brothers, Lloyd & Sanford Vigness.
