Bernice Schlichting, 81, of Garrison, passed away on July 10, 2025, in Garrison.

Bernice was born in Underwood, ND, on December 13, 1943, to Elmer and Caroline Evenson.

Bernice attended nursing school in Rugby, ND and spent many years working as a nurse here in the Garrison community. Her hobbies included ceramics, quilting and visiting family and friends.

Bernice met George Schlichting, and they were married on May 29, 1963. They had two sons, Glenn and Dean. George and Bernice made a wonderful life with their boys farming and raising cattle.

When Bernice wasn't working as a nurse, you would find her driving combine or hauling hay; or bringing one of her home cooked meals to feed "the guys" out in the field. Bernice's two grandchildren, Jill and Steely, were the apples of her eye.

Bernice is survived by her sons, Dean (Donna), Glenn (Ann), all of Garrison; grandchildren, Jill (Riley) Mautz of Garrison, Steely, of Garrison, Preston Schneider, of Minot; and many nieces and nephews.

Bernice is preceded in death by her parents; husband George; brothers Donald (Gladys) Evenson, Floyd (Lorraine) Evenson.
