Beverly was born September 7, 1932 to Edward and Gladys (Snow) Walters at the Garrison area home. Her family lived at Steven's Mine for several years. It was there that she made friends with Lorraine Klain. Bev and Lorraine remained friends forever and spent many wonderful times together with their husbands and kids.
Bev took piano lessons from the Catholic nuns in Garrison and later shared her talents at St. Peter's Church in Emmet as church organist for over 25 years. When she was 14, her family moved to a farm west of Garrison but she was determined to graduate from high school. That fall she moved into Garrison with her older brother and sister, got an apartment, job, and continued her education. She graduated from Garrison High School in 1950.
On December 29, 1950 she married Reid Hill. Their married life started in an 8' by 28' trailer in the back yard of Reid's grandparent's home in Garrison. In 1955 they purchased Bev's parent's farm and moved to the country. There was no running water, no phone, their 6 little ones and a farmer husband to care for! Bev and Reid farmed there for 40 years. They made many improvements and they took pride in their beautiful yard. Bev always had a big garden and canned everything it produced.
Bev was a proficient baker and her homemade buns were the best, always being asked to bring them to share on all our holiday celebrations. It was a wonderful treat to come home from school to a snack of fried bread dough! She was a very talented seamstress and she made many holiday dresses for her daughters and granddaughters. She also spent many days creating quilts, crocheting doilies and tablecloths, and many beautiful hardanger pieces. She was truly an artist.
Bev moved to Garrison after Reid's death in 1996 and built a new home. After several years there she moved to Bismarck to be closer to her family. In 2015 she returned home to Garrison where the Benedictine Living Center became her home and the earth angels there walked with her on the rest of her journey here on earth.
Bev is survived by her sons, Ronald (Jean) Hill, Bismarck, ND, Jim (Geri) Hill, Makoti, ND, Larry (Shelley) Hill, Bismarck, ND, Allen (Joanne) Hill, Lancaster, CA; daughters, Cheryl (Nick) Kerzman, Bluffton, MN, Colleen Walsh, LA Mesa, CA; 12 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; brothers, Johnny, Hank, and Larry Walters; sisters, Barb Walters and Virginia Safely; one special dog, Minnie; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Reid, parents, granddaughter, Melissa, sisters Irene Hill, Lois Mehlhoff, and Shirley Lien, son-in-law, Dennis Walsh, and daughters-in-law, Linda Hill and Marge Hill.
In lieu flowers the family prefers memorials to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or the Benedictine Living Center or the donor's choice.
