Carol Jean Hansen,81, succumbed to Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) at Benedictine Living Center in Garrison, North Dakota on Wednesday, October 2, 2019.

Carol Jean Anderson was born to Adolph and Annette (Olsen) Anderson on September 8, 1938 in Minot, ND. She lived with her family near Ryder, ND until the fall of 1946 when they moved to a farmstead near Douglas, ND. Carol Jean graduated from Douglas High School in 1956 and from Minot State College in 1958 with her Teaching Certificate. She then taught in the elementary schools at Parshall and Sherwood, ND. Carol Jean married Wayne Hansen on June 18, 1961 in Ryder. They would raise their family (Annette, Jon, Ardyce & Jay) and farm & ranch together near Ryder until moving to Edgewood Vista in Minot in June, 2014. July of 2018, Wayne & Carol Jean moved to Benedictine Living Center in Garrison, ND. Wayne & Carol Jean spent over 20 winters in Apache Junction, AZ. Wayne passed away August 28, 2018.

Carol Jean enjoyed bowling and sewing. She sewed many clothes for the kids while they were growing up. Her sewing interest turned to quilting after the kids had grown. She was active in 4-H (as member & leader), Busy Bee Homemakers, Farmers Union (local and county), Calvary Presbyterian Ladies Aid, Hiddenwood Old Settlers, Happy Hour Senior Citizens and square dancing. Carol sewed matching square dance outfits for the whole family as all six of us would go dancing in various communities. A highlight for Carol Jean was going to Norway with Wayne and daughter, Annette, in 2001. She met family there and got to see the home where her mother was born. Most of all, Carol Jean loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them and attending their activities.

She will be missed by her children: Annette & Mark Rockeman of Donnybrook, Jon & Debbie Hansen of Ryder, Ardyce & Troy Huber of Minot and Jay & Melissa Hansen of Ryder. Grandchildren: Christopher (Paige Brummund) Rockeman, Brett (Jackie) Rockeman, Erica (Christopher) Brewer, Bridget Klosterman, Karley (Allen) Porter, Ashley (Dillon) Kossan, Travis Huber, Jayden Hansen (Jessica Peterson). Great-grandchildren: Hope & Tristan Brewer, Ayden & Kealey Klosterman and Brynley Kossan. Carol is also survived by her twin brothers Myron Anderson of Minot and Mylo (Dorothy) Anderson of Bismarck along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Meeting her in heaven are her husband, Wayne and her parents as well as in-laws: Janet Scott, Helen & Gordon Smith, Mervyn & Bonnie Hansen

Funeral Service: Monday, October 7 at 10:00 AM in Cornerstone Presbyterian Church, 1000 3rd St NE, Minot, ND.
Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot, ND at 1 PM Oct. 7.
