Carol Nelson, 73, Garrison, died on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at a Garrison nursing facility. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:30 am at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Garrison. Burial will be at the Garrison City Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 2 to 7 at Thompson Funeral Home in Garrison.
Carol was born August 31, 1938 to George and Agnes (Nyberg) Weller in Rock Lake, ND, where she was raised and educated, graduating from Rock Lake High School. She continued her education at Aakers Business College. She worked as a secretary to Lieutenant Governor Richard Larsen. She later attended Minot State University and received a teaching degree in business and taught in Park River, ND.
On June 14, 1964 she married her lifelong love Bernard Nelson. They shared their home west of Garrison for almost 48 years where she built her new life as a farm wife,working side by side with Bernard. They raised two children, Roger and Sandra.
Carol loved to laugh and brought so much energy wherever she went. Some of her favorite things to do were going to rummage sales, and baking homemade bread and doughnuts. She enjoyed spending time and laughs with friends and family over coffee, and she always loved the time she spent with her family. Her kindness and generosity were only a few of her many qualities that made her personality shine. She was a longtime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and was the Ladies Aid secretary for her circle.
Carol is survived by her husband, Bernard; son, Roger and daughter, Sandra.
She was preceded in death by her parents George and Agnes and sister, Jean
Memorials can be given to the Alzheimer's Association, Camp of the Cross, or the donor's choice.
