Charles Kinn, 81, Coleharbor, died on Sunday, April 15, 2018 at the Garrison Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 2:00 pm at Concordia Lutheran Church in Benedict. Burial will be held at the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 4 to 7 pm at Thompson Funeral Home in Garrison.
Charles Henry Kinn was born November 6, 1936 in Garrison, ND to Otto and Luella (Hanson) Kinn. He attended country school until 8th grade and then went to work on the family farm.
Charles worked for Pastor Brooks as a farm hand which is where he met the love of his life, Ellenor Madsen. They were married at the Concordia Lutheran Parsonage on October 25, 1958.
Following their marriage, they made their first home on one of his uncle Ole's farms south of Benedict farming and ranching. On their first farm, they started their family with Obert, Chris, Lynda and Tina. Charles went to work for as a truck driver for Schriock Construction, where he worked for 27 years. He then drove truck for McLean County until his retirement.
In 1970, their family moved to Benedict, where Otto came along. Two years later they moved to Max and purchased their first home, where they completed their family with the birth of the "best child", Julie. In 1992, Charles and Ellenor moved to his Grandpa Hanson's homestead where they reside to this current day.
Charles loved to spend time as he could with his kids and grandkids, and later on his great grandkids.
Those grateful to share in his life include; his wife of 59 years, Ellenor, Coleharbor; children, Obert Kinn (Christy), Max, Chris (Wendy) Kinn, Max, Lynda (Dwayne) Brandt, Ryder, Tina (Robert) Meagher, Logan, ND, Otto (Julie Rae) Kinn, Max, and Julie Olson (Rodney) , Sawyer; grandchildren, Heather (Vince) Bostow, Holly (Shawn) Forsman, Steven (Chelsey) Rademacher, Jason Meagher, Emily (Jesse) Berg, Miranda (Aaron) Brentrup, Casey (Mandy) Olson, Justin Meagher, Kati Brandt (Scott Roth), Dylan Kinn, Taylor Olson, Otto Kinn, Amy Brandt, Levi Kinn, Tanner Olson, 8 great grandchildren; siblings, Orlien (Naomi) Kinn, Alvin (Sheryl) Kinn; sisters-in-law, Linda Madsen, Margaret (Charles) Bentz; brothers-in-law, Clarence (Diane) Madsen, Melvin (Pat) Madsen; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Baby Kinn, son-in-law, Danny Olson, nephew, Jason Kinn, brothers-in-law, Norman Madsen and LaVern Schon.
