Corey Allen Betz was born to Allen and Melinda (Mattern) Betz on October 6, 1971, in Garrison, ND. He passed away April 30, 2023, in Wausau, Wisconsin.

Corey attended Bob Callie's Elementary School and graduated from Garrison High School in 1991. He attended one year at Wahpeton School of Science.

As a young boy, he and his brothers and sisters delivered the Minot Daily News throughout Garrison. He worked at Johnson Red Owl and Garrison Super Valu throughout his high school years. He also worked at Bobcat in Gwinner, ND. He did some construction work, he was an iron worker. Also worked at Krause's Super Value. While living in Wausau he worked at some factories.

Corey enjoyed hunting and fishing and just being outdoors. He enjoyed all sports especially high school wrestling. He was an avid Minnesota Vikings Fan. His favorite past time was collecting sports cards. He was always checking what his cards were worth and they were everywhere.

He also enjoyed playing any kind of card game, especially Pinochle. Monopoly and Risk were his favorite board games which he always managed to win, you had to watch him closely.

He met and married Rhonda Jorgenson in Wahpeton. From this union they had three children.

Corey enjoyed family. He had three brothers and four sisters. They were always thinking of things to do. Family get-togethers could always be a surprise.

Corey is survived by his children, Skylor Betz, Wahpeton area, Courtney Betz, Minot, Jade Betz, Minot; two grandchildren, Devin and Zen; parents, Allen and Melinda Betz; brothers and sisters, Lisa (Steve) Zacharias, Nancy Leidholm, Jamie (Amy) Betz, Derek (Becky) Betz, Sara (Paul) Ruhland, Kayla Myers (Tom), Cody (Lacy) Betz; and many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles.

Corey is preceded in death by a son, Nathaniel; grandparents, Leo and Julia Mattern, Rudy and Pauline Betz; brother-in-law, Kyle Leidholm; and several aunts and uncles.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Garrison, ND.

A Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM on Friday, May 5, 2023, at Thompson Funeral Home, Garrison, ND.
