Darlene Mae Jacobs, 85, Turtle Lake, died on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at the Turtle Lake Hospital. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday December 27, 2019 at 10:30 am at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Turtle Lake. A rosary and vigil will be held on Thursday beginning at 7:00 pm at the church.
Family will receive family and friends on Thursday from 5 to 7 at St. Catherine's Catholic Church.
Darlene was born March 5, 1934 at home on her family's farm near Bagley, MN to Adolph and Margaret Christianson. She attended school in Bagley. When she was 16 years old she married Kenneth Olson and lived for a short while near Fort Ord, CA. Kenneth went Missing in Action in Korea in 1952. Four years later Darlene married Gerald Millar. They lived in Gully, MN, Bismarck, ND, and Dickinson, ND. In 1966, Darlene married Eugene Jacobs and continued to live in Turtle Lake for 53 years.
Both Eugene and Darlene worked for Lindteigen Construction. Darlene had worked for Meyer Construction for 2 years and then Lindteigen Construction for 24 years before being forced to retire in 1991 due to health reasons.
Darlene belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary and was past president and secretary. She belonged to St. Catherine's Alter Society and was a member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church. Darlene was an avid bowler for over 20 years. She enjoyed camping, sewing, and playing cards, but her greatest love was her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Darlene is survived by her son, Lonnie (Janine Landsiedel) Jacobs, Underwood, ND; daughters-in-law, Sharon Olson, Lesley Jacobs; adopted son, Shawn (Mary) Millar, Eagle, ID; 8 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins; stepson, Billy Jacobs; stepdaughters, Marilyn Jacobs, Tammy Jacobs, and Sharon Jacobs; and numerous step grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, son, Kenny Olson, parents, daughter, Kathy Miller, 3 sisters, 3 stepsons, Jim, Darrell and Eugene "Mosey" Jacobs Jr., and numerous grandchildren.
