Derek Dean Everett Oshkeshequoam was born January 13, 1982 to Clarine (Kathy) Everett Oshkeshequoam and Mike Oshkeshequoam in Green Bay Wisconsin. Derek was taken in and raised by his Aunt and Uncle, Alice and Theodore Everett Jr. when he was seven years old.

He graduated from White Shield High School in 2001. He attended United Tribes Technical College, majoring in Elementary Education. He worked as a preschool teacher at the UTTC Daycare. He was also involved in cultural ways and traditions. He spent a lot of time quilting and beading whenever he was able. He enjoyed cutting hair. Growing up he was the family barber and he continued that skill into adulthood, cutting his friends' hair. He loved music, playing blackjack, but most of all trying to win money at bingo.

He met the love of his life, his fiancée, Savannah Burgee and they shared four beautiful children together. Derek was a loving father of six; Darius Webb Cain Oshkeshequoam, Mia Bercier, SaRaeah Amerie, Sequoia Aiyana, Drake Derron, and baby Sasha Armani. He adored each and every one of his children with all his heart. He loved taking his babies to the park, playing with them, teasing them and cuddling them, and especially just loving them.

Derek enjoyed playing basketball and attending basketball games, traveling, and being involved with his family and friends. He was a socially outgoing, handsome young man—gentle and generous, and he was loved by all who knew him.

He will be known as an Angel, helping other in God's ways. Heaven's rays will shine upon all whom Derek loved, his family and his friends.

Derek is preceded in death by his father, Mike Oshkeshequoam Jr. and his maternal grandparents, Betty Everett and Theodore Everett Sr., and paternal grandfather, Mike Oshkeshequoam Sr.

He is survived by his loving fiancée, Savannah Burgee, Bismarck, and their children, SaRaeah, Sequoia, Drake, and Sasha, his son, Darius, Bismarck, and his daughter Mia, also of Bismarck; brothers, Brandon Everett, Williston, ND, Hector Everett, White Shield, ND, and Josiah Westman, Richardton, ND; sister, Brittany Westman, Plaza, ND, and his mother, Clarine Oshkeshequoam, Williston, ND; Adoptive family, brothers, Eric Everett, White Shield, ND, Gary Everett, Garrison, ND, Joe Everett, Garrison, ND, Theodore Everett III (Triple), Minot, ND; sisters, Theodora Everett Johnson (Teddi) of Garrison, ND, Isaiah Everett of White Shield, Elizabeth White Bear, Garrison, ND, and Adoptive parents, Alice and Theodore Everett of White Shield.
