Donald Wagner, 77, Max, died on Monday, June 5, 2017 at Trinity Hospital in Minot. Memorial services will be held on Saturday at 10:00 am at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Max. Burial will be at Peace Lutheran Cemetery in Max.
Donald Dean Wagner was born November 18, 1939 in McHenry County North Dakota to Ernest and Thelma (Merklien) Wagner. He was raised in rural McHenry County and attended school in Anamoose, ND, graduating in 1957. Don married Margaret Martian on November 1, 1959 at St. Mark's Church in Minot, ND. Out of this came union came three beautiful children, Randy, Korey and Sandy.
Don's entire life was dedicated to agriculture. His career as an elevator manager began in Epping, ND. After 8 years in Epping, he and his family moved to Max where he would manage the Max Farmer's Elevator for 27 years. He was very well known throughout the area, serving countless farmers and Ag industry people.
Don was not just an elevator manager in Max. He was extremely active in the community. He was a very dedicated member of the Max Fire Dept. and also served on the Max City Council, Max Civic Club, Park Board, Investment Club, and Our Savior's Lutheran Church Council.
When Don wasn't wearing one of his many community hats, he took the time to enjoy some of his favorite hobbies. He loved to deer hunt and take "road trips", especially on Saturday's with his son Randy. He also enjoyed cabin life and gardening at their Strawberry Lake cabin where he and his friend Jerry perfected a brew they called "Jerry Juice". Above all, however, family always came before everything. His family, especially grandchildren and great grandchildren were most dear to his heart.
Don is survived by his wife of 57 years, Margaret, son, Randy (Robin) Wagner, Minot, ND, daughter, Sandy (Randy) Swanson, Max, ND; 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren; and a sister, Jeanette (Wagner) Moore, Hastings, MN.
H was preceded in death by his parents, and one son, Korey.
