Doris Boger, 86, Tioga, formerly of Garrison, died on Sunday, July 10, 2016 at the Tioga hospital. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 am at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Garrison. Burial will be at the Garrison City Cemetery.

Doris was born March 13, 1930 in Stanley, ND to Dewey and Mabel (Stave) Jarmin, the oldest of 8 children. She was raised and educated in Stanley, graduating from Stanley High School in 1950. Following graduation, she married John Ellis on April 24, 1950 in Stanley. From this union came four children, Linda, Larry, Marshall, and JoAnne. They moved to Garrison and purchased Parker's Bar. They later divorced.

Doris remained in Garrison and went to work for Gordy's Bar. She later managed Gordy's bar, for her son Larry after he purchased the bar from the Nahan's. She was a mainstay at the bar and a very hard worker. She ran the bar with great efficiency, an ironfist, and a quick-witted sense of humor.

Doris married Alvin "Blacky" Boger on October 21, 1984 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Minot. They made their home in Garrison. Along with managing the bar, Doris and Alvin owned and operated the Lakewood Motel in Garrison.
Doris enjoyed taking care of her flower beds and garden. She loved to can all of the wonderful vegetables from her garden. She also loved to bake. Come Christmas time, she and Alvin would bake dozens and dozens of cookies, candy and many other goodies, and deliver them to people around town. Another favorite pastime was going to the casino with Alvin!

Doris is survived by her children, Linda Fretland, Tioga, ND, Larry Ellis, Velva, ND, Marshall (Carmella) Ellis, Fredrick, CO, and JoAnne (Matt) Kerzmann, Upham, ND; step children, Robyn (Tom) Atkinson, Bismarck, ND, and Jill (Lee) Weinhandl, Mandan, ND; 18 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; sisters, Betty Hodson, Aurora, CO, and Ann (Doug) Colver, Snohomish, WA; brother, Marv (Miriam ) Jarmin, Mount Vernon, VA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Alvin "Blacky" Boger, brothers, Charles and Albert Jarmin, and sisters, Louise Gibbs and Bonnie Olson.
