Don Vinje, Garrison, formerly of Newburg, died on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at the Garrison Hospital.

Donovan Leroy Vinje was born January 25, 1932 on the family farm in Eidsvold Township south of Landa, ND to Lewis and Dagny (Lillegard) Vinje.  He married Elgie Klingenberg and lived and raised their five children in the Newburg, ND area for 49 years.  They were active members of Dovre Lutheran Church in Newburg.

He worked for over 30 years at Amerada Hess oil company as well as helping on the family farm prior to his retirement in the mid 1990's.  Donovan was a big sports fan, especially his beloved Minnesota Twins.  He liked to stay abreast of sports stories, current events, and the weather.  His kids and grandkids will miss his 'reports' on the weather or other events in their area.  Donovan's faith in God was an integral part of his life that he hoped to pass on to his family and others.

Donovan is survived by his five children, Craig (Marty) of Cupe Coy, St. Maarten, Mark (Sandy) previously of Maryland, now traveling the country in their RV, Diane (Allan) Eslinger of Coleharbor, ND, Kevin (Bonita) of Arizona, and Todd (Brenda) of Alexandria, MN; 17 Grandchildren, 25 Great Grandchildren, along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Elgie, parents, Lewis and Dagny Vinje, brother (Luther), and granddaughter (Jessica Eslinger)
