Duane Farrell Grimm, 57, Max, formerly of Douglas, died Monday, Oct. 3rd, 2016 at his home. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 1:00pm at the Douglas Senior Center in Douglas.
Farrell was born in Warren, Ohio to Duane Grimm and Donna Simons Grimm. He lived in Warren until the age of 5. At that time Donna married Dale Bluhm, and the family moved to Bellflower, California, where they lived until he was 7. At that time, they moved to Douglas, ND and lived on the family farm.
Farrell attended Douglas School until it closed in 1967, then attended and graduated from Garrison Public School in 1978. After graduation Farrell worked various jobs in construction, and eventually moved to Tioga, ND where he worked in the oil fields insulating storage tanks.
He met and later married Rynette Stokes in July of 1982. They made their home in Tioga until they moved to Minot in 1987.
After his divorce he lived in a few different locations in ND before settling in the Fort Collins, CO area where he lived and worked until the summer of 2013. At that time he moved to Dell Rapids, SD to be with family. In April of 2016, he moved back to Max, ND to be close to his brother Rick Grimm and family.
Farrell was a very kind hearted and loving soul. If you were blessed to be one of his friends, you know he would do anything for you and never want a thing in return other than to know he helped.
He loved kids, even though he was never blessed with his own; he loved to spend time with his nieces and nephews.
He had many hobbies that he liked to spend time doing: fishing, puzzles, movies, his pets, and he loved a good book to read, most of all he loved sports, especially football (Go Broncos) He loved to cook and EAT!!!! He never turned down a meal, and it didn't matter what you served him, he ate it, with a smile. If it included a big dish of black olives to go along with it....he had hit the jackpot. At that point, you would probably hear Farrell's famous "WOW" come out!!
He rode Harley for most of his life and loved the freedom of the ride. He was a member of the Ramblers group and made many, many friends, who he still kept in touch with.
Farrell is survived by his mother Donna Miller and step-father Cordell Miller of SD.
Brother Rick and Carmen (Scheresky) Grimm of ND.
