Edward Duben was born June 3, 1924 in Conrath, WI to Anthony and Anna (Jasenosky) Duben. He was raised and educated in Wisconsin. He moved to the Coleharbor area in the 1950's because of the work being done on the Garrison Dam. It was at this time that he met his future wife, Anna Zuck.
Ed and Anna were married on May 23, 1959. They made their home in the Underwood/Coleharbor area where they farmed and raised their 6 children. Ed actually built their house and spent many, many hours turning their house into a home. He was a very hard worker. While farming, Ed also worked on various missile sites in the area as well as doing carpentry work at the local power plants. He later worked as a janitor for the Coleharbor School and for the City of Coleharbor.
Ed was a soft spoken, kind and caring man. He cherished the time he spent with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and always looked forward to family get togethers. In his spare time, Ed spent countless hours in his garden, which was his pride and joy. He meticulously groomed and cared for his plants and vegetables and thoroughly enjoyed the harvest of his labor. Ed will be truly missed by his loving wife, Anna, and all of children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Ed is survived by his wife Anna, Minot; children; Emery (Cindy) Duben, Lansford, ND, Paul (Ronda) Duben, Garrison, ND, Julie (Joel) Bergstedt, Hazen, ND, John (Stacey) Duben, Coleharbor, ND, Mary (Marcus) Wertz, Coleharbor, ND, and Anthony (Erin) Duben, Devils Lake, ND; 15 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Thomas Wertz, and 1 sister, Helen.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to the Coleharbor Cemetery.
