Ella Rime, 95, Garrison, died on Tuesday, December 9, at the Garrison hospital. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:30 am at Peace Lutheran Church in Garrison. Burial will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Minot at 2:45 pm.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 3 to 7 at Thompson Funeral Home in Garrison.
Ella was born April 14, 1919 in Greatstone Township, McLean County, ND, in rural Turtle Lake, the daughter of Frank and Ann (Schultz) Voth.
Ella married Marvin Rime on March 15, 1942 in Garrison, ND. They lived at Figneskow Coal Mine near Underwood, ND for 5 years while Marvin was working at the mine. In 1948 they moved to Garrison. Marvin passed away in December of 1969. Ella continued living in Garrison and working for the Burns and Wretling Company. She later worked for Iglehart Dairy and was also the greens keeper at the Garrison Golf Course for several years.
Ella loved working outside in her yard and garden. She was a wonderful baker and was most famous for her honey cookies and pecan tarts. She was also a very accomplished sewer and quilter. Many of her quilts were made for the price of a smile on a child's face.
Ella is survived by her daughters, Marlene (Jack) Iglehart, Garrison, Shirley Zook, all of Garrison, son, Terry (Shirley) Rime, Bismarck; grandchildren, John M. Iglehart, Karen (Joe) Zwieg, Kathy (Wally) Northrop, Lisa Laib, Mary (Todd) Goven, Jennifer (Mark) Roen, Nancy (Dan) Peterson, Ken Zook, Kory Zook, Kim Seidler, M. Patrick (Heather) Rime, Nicole (Kevin) Forest, Sadie (Jon) Erickson; 11 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; and 3 sisters, Harriet Christopherson, Garrison, Verla Myers, Sioux Falls, SD, and Vivian Kraft, Turtle Lake.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Marvin, 3 brothers, 6 sisters, a great granddaughter, Katie Jo Kovarik, and a son-in-law, Lloyd Zook.
