Evelyth Wohlk, 101, of Garrison ND passed away peacefully in the Garrison Memorial hospital. Evelyth Adeline Baker was born December 30, 1918 in rural Minot ND and was the daughter of Clifford and Minnie (Bjorn) Baker. She was the oldest daughter of 12 children. Evelyth was raised in Minot, after 8 th grade she begin to babysit, clean houses, and worked at a café. Evelyth, and her sisters would often sing gospel music at the Volunteer American Church and the radio station KLPM
On April 2 nd 1938 Evelyth was united in marriage to Henry Wohlk of Ryder, following their wedding they moved to Glasgow, Montana where Henry barbered. Later that winter they moved to Ryder on the family farm in Hiddenwood Township where they raised cattle and small grains. During their married life they were blessed with 4 sons. After retirement in 1981 they moved to Garrison and traveled in their mortorhome in the US and Canada. Henry and Evelyth celebrated their 50th Anniversary in 1988 followed by a trip to Norway. Henry passed away November 26 th 1988, Evelyth continued to live in Garrison an in March 2020 she moved to the Garrison Memorial Hospital.
Evelyth was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Ryder and St. John's WELCA. Evelyth loved living on the farm, she was a great cook and baker. She always had cookies for neighbors and especially the grandchildren when they come to visit. Evelyth raised many gardens, did a lot of canning and helped milk the cows, she also took care of Ragna Henry's mom for many years. Evelyth enjoyed going to the Medora Musical, the Hostfest in Minot, and playing whist. Evelyth looked forward to her family birthday parties each year especially her 100 th birthday. She loved spending time with her nieces and nephews throughout the years.
Her loving family includes Sons Delroy (Marilyn) Wohlk of Underwood, Gorlyn Wohlk of Douglas, Lydell (Wendy) Wohlk of Ryder. Grandchildren Tamie (Charlie) Bisbee, Linda Wohlk, Darci (Clarence) Behles, Daryn Wohlk, Darla (Derrick) Rassmuson, Darnell Wohlk, Heather Schoenborn (Shawn) Heidi (Brian)Walsh, Nathan (Nichole) Wohlk. Great grandchildren Seth, Taylor and Charlie Bisbee, Kacey Hinze (Nick), Korey Winkler, Justin Behles (Cassidy), Julie Behles, Devan, Dannik, and Dillan Rasmussen, Alex, Matthew and Lucas Schoenborn, Dalton and Triston Walsh, Lanie, Nia, Jaeda and Jetta Wohlk, Teagan, Leila, Alivia and Savaily Bennett. Sister Madelyn Johnson of California, and a number of nieces and nephews. Special Caregiver and friend Gloria Carbojal.
Evelyth was preceded in death by her parents, and grandparents, husband Henry, son Marwin, grandson Troy Wohlk. Sisters Vergil Duhamel, Ferol Tangen, Lorrayne Anderson, Sharon Nelson. Brothers Lyle, Layne, Marlyn, Donovan, Dwayne and infant baby Baker.
The family prefers memorials to St. John Lutheran Church in Ryder.
