Florence Rachael DuBray-Wilkinson
Ti el Wotapi Win-Come Eat at Her House
In Alliance Nebraska on November 23rd, 1960 Seth & Altine DuBray welcomed Their first beautiful baby girl Florence Rachael DuBray, and on June 21st,2020 Rachael saddled up and blazed her final trail surrounded by family at her DuBray Family home in Parmelee, SD.
Rachael was the baby sister to Paul Leader Charge and Harry DuBray and big sister to Seth "Boob" DuBray, Mark DuBray, and Prairie Rose DuBray-Chapin. Granddaughter of Charles & Katherine DuBray and Charles Young & Florence Leader Charge.
Rachael's only sister Prairie Rose, whom she raised followed Rachael wherever she went, eventually making her home near Rachael. They fight like cats & dogs but only they could have a relationship and love that endures between them.
In her earlier years Rachael was an accomplished horsewoman "Rodeo Princess" if she was the one telling her story.) She broke horses that a person could stand on, carry a flag, ride double, barrel race and walk under & around, and she even handled a rope like no other. She had the skills to dance with ropes which was impressive to watch by many, especially by her Dad and Grandpa Charles DuBray who proudly enjoyed her abilities.
She also was a proud Cheerleader all her life. If she had the chance to tell you about her days as one, she would. She had many stories and any chance she got to cheer on her husband, daughter, or any family or friend, she was there.
In high school (St. Francis Indian School) she was both Homecoming & Prom Queen and her first year of College (UTTC) she was Student Body President. She told stories about these accomplishments often and so would many of her former classmates or childhood friends.
She also met her Husband Charles Wilkinson while attending college, they have been together since and going on 40 years. They had their one precious daughter Sunni Rose and raised their adopted daughter Julyana Rachael. One of her life's true enjoyment and happiness was the birth of her grandson Charles Grinnell. As she would always say 'He is the reason I am alive. I live for him and will stay as long as I can.' He brought the fight back in her, He made her life filled with happiness, love and deep affection in these last 4 years. He kept her busy and active in her everyday lifestyle.
Rachael also had a special relationship and helped take care of her In-Laws, Ernest & Molly Wilkinson. She learned a lot of culture and history from them and was adopted into the Chicken Clan. She always made sure to prepare meals and even learned how to handle farm equipment herself just to help, during farming season. She loved her Wilkinson Family and had a special place in her heart for them. She kept many of her nieces and nephews throughout the years. One of her favorite times in life was helping take care of her Granddaughters Gabriella and Mia Wilkinson, she loved them dearly and definitely had some adventures with them.
Rachael really could do whatever she set her mind to, she was & called herself "Jack of all trades, Master of none". She enjoyed beading, looming, leather work and sewing. Recently she was working on a Traditional/Chicken outfit for Baby Chuck. Rachael also had a green thumb (arm was more like it) and had special skills when it came to gardening. She always took pride of keeping the outside of her house welcoming and warm with flowers and plants. When her first flower bloomed or a new plant took, she either take a picture or call proudly showing it off. She also took pride in a spotless and clean house until 'Baby Chuck' was born, then it was just "leave him alone, he can".
She also loved to travel, she was one of those people that could get in her car and just go. If you needed help driving or some company, she was your choice. She always liked to say "My leg hurts, it didn't get in its 100 miles today".
Rachael had an extremely generous heart and always helped her family, friends and community when she could. She also contributed to the care and upkeep of Holy Innocents Episcopal Church where the family grew up and Her Uncle Roy Stone's Sundance wherever and whenever needed in Parmelee SD.
She was a social butterfly and had a sense of humor like no other and was the life of the party to her family & friends. She could be getting mad at you and helping you at the same time. She will truly be missed because she really was one of a kind.
Rachael had expressed her wishes for her funeral arrangements
