Memorial services for Frieda Hoffer will be on June 2nd, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Garrison, ND.
Frieda Hoffer was born Sept. 4, 1937, to Walter and Mary Gillig, in Denhoff. Surrounded by her family and friends in Mesa, Ariz., she lost her battle with cancer Saturday, Dec. 12, 2015, at the age of 78.
After she graduated from Denhoff High School in 1955, Frieda married Leonard Hoffer, the love of her life. They have two sons, Bryan and
Bruce. After waitressing at the Riverside Supper Club and the Holiday Inn in Minot and graduating from beauty college, Frieda owned two beauty salons: Brooks Beauty and the Balcony of Beauty.
Frieda and Leonard then opened an assisted living home. They provided adult foster care in their own home until they retired to their Garrison Bay lake cabin in 2000. They loved living on Lake Sakakawea,
where she made innumerable memories with family and friends. She
and her husband began to winter in Mesa and sold their cabin five years ago to spend their summers in Garrison.
Frieda enjoyed fishing, gardening, canning, and any occasion for a gathering of friends and relatives.
She is survived by: her husband of 60 years, Leonard Hoffer; her two
sons, Bryan (Julie) Hoffer and Bruce (Lori) Hoffer, both of Minot; two grandchildren, Johnna (Vegas) Varty and John Hoffer; her sisters, LaVella (Dick) West, Lincoln, Neb., and Adeline Axt, Plattsmouth, Neb.; and by her nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by: her parents, Walter and Mary Gillig.
The family sends our sincerest appreciation to her many friends and family in Garrison and Mesa.
