Gerald (Jerry) Friese, 93, went to his heavenly home on April 2, 2018, in Bismarck ND. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 am at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Garrison. A rosary will be said at 10:30 am prior to funeral services at the church. Burial will be at 3:00 pm at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 4 to 6 and on Saturday from 1 to 5 at Thompson Funeral Home in Garrison.
Jerry was born February 2, 1925 to Frank and Josephine Friese. He was raised and educated in Max, ND. In 1945 he joined the army and served stateside until his discharge.
Following his discharge, Jerry began working at the parts counter at the McGray and Benshoof Implement dealership, which was later named Garrison Equipment. He remained there until his retirement.
He raised 4 children; Rick, Valerie, Lynette, and Peggy.
In 1975 he married Louise Weigum in Garrison. They spent 42 years together dancing, playing cards with friends and enjoying their garden.
Jerry was a past member of the Garrison Fire Department where he served as
secretary-treasurer for more than 10 years. He was a member of the Hugh P. Minehan American Legion Post #49 in Garrison and St. Michaels Council of Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his daughters, Valerie Jungling, Bismarck; Lynnette Walters, Yakima WA; Peggy Walsh, Millstadt, Il; daughter-in-law, Patty Friese; grandchildren, Racheal(Gary) Lind, Bismarck; Frank Friese, Garrison; Stephanie Parsons, Fargo; Brent Jungling, Bismarck; Matt Walters, Yakima, WA, Ryan(Hollie) Walters, Yakima, WA; great grandchildren, Peyton and Parker Lind, Andrew and Megan Parsons, Caleb Jungling, Gunner, Gracie and Cooper Walters; step-son, Jerome (Fran) Weigum and their children, Jessica and Amber; ; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 6 siblings, his wife, Louise, son Rick, sons-in-law, Jerome Jungling, Bob Walters, David New, and grandson Jerry Jungling.
Jerry will be greatly missed by his family and friends and we take comfort knowing that he and Louise are doing the polka together in heaven.
Memorials are preferred to the Alzheimers Association.
