Obituary

Glenn Anthony Schreiner, 62, Max, died unexpectedly on November 1, 2019.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 10:30 am at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Garrison.  A rosary will be said on Friday beginning at 7:00 pm at the church.  Burial will be at St. Nicholas Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 3 to 7 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Garrison.

Glenn was born in Garrison, North Dakota on November 25, 1956 to Cletie and Gertie (Schlenker) Schreiner. He was raised in Garrison and graduated from Garrison High School and Bismarck State College. After college, Glenn started farming and worked at the Falkirk Mine until his retirement from mining in 2012.

He married his high school sweetheart, Paula (Matthews) Schreiner, on September 18, 1976 and they were blessed with three children, who are still trying to figure out which one of them was his favorite. His children ALL agree there was never a dull moment with their Dad and that they were taught at a very young age to enjoy his love of music, especially 'The Eagles', whenever they got in the vehicle. Paula was diagnosed with ALS in November 2009 and Glenn provided loving care during her illness. Paula lost her battle to ALS on November 7, 2011.

He lived his entire life in the Garrison/Max area and was very active in both communities in many ways. Glenn was active in St. Nicholas Church where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He served on various boards throughout the area.

In 2012, Glenn was blessed to find happiness again with Candace Trueblood. They married on October 27, 2017. They so looked forward to enjoying retirement and traveling together.  He lived his life to the fullest and always had a smile for everyone he met. He had a gentle and gracious heart, which was displayed in his devotion to his family and friends. He was a great dad to his children and the GREATEST "Papa" to his grandchildren, to whom he taught that donuts were a good breakfast choice (or frozen yogurt/ice cream, if they promised not to tell their mom or dad). All who loved Glenn dearly will never forget his smile, wit, charm, the mischievous twinkle in his eye and his fervent love for the Minnesota Twins, Vikings and 'The Eagles'.

Those left to cherish Glenn's memory include: Wife, Candace; children: Jenn (John) Dingmann of Plymouth, Minnesota, Angie (Jay) Roles of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, and Nick Schreiner of Minot; grandchildren: Tatum Roles, Ty and Molly Dingmann; step-children: Amy (Chad) Betz, Garrison, and Angie (Kyle) Hegre, Bismarck; step-grandchildren: Alexis and Ethan Betz, and Abby and Tanner Hegre, McAyla (Ian) Thompson; mother, Gertie Schreiner, Garrison; siblings: Bruce (Sue) Schreiner, Garrison, Becky (Charly) Kerzman, Wheatland, Wyoming, Lori (Darryl) Sayler, Minot, and Jodi (Brian) Bendickson, Garrison; father-in law, Loren Trueblood; in-laws: Viva (Andy) Simmons, Republic, Missouri and Lisa (Daryl) Kleyer, Williston, Brad Matthews, Garrison, John (Marlinda) Matthews, Garrison, Ron (LaVonne) Matthews, Fargo, Todd (Jen) Matthews, Williston, Gary (Pam) Trueblood and Don (Bonnie) Trueblood, all of Minot; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
