Hilda Alvina Kohler  94, Benedict, ND, died Monday, July 12, 2021 at Trinity Hospital in  Minot ND.

Funeral services will be Monday, July 19, 2021 at 10:30 am at Concordia Lutheran Church, Benedict ND.  Funeral services will be live streamed on the Concordia Lutheran Church Facebook Page.  Interment will be at Bethania Lutheran Cemetery in Benedict.

Visitation will beheld on Sunday from 2 to 4 at Concordia Lutheran Church in Benedict.

Hilda was the daughter of the late John E. & Pauline (Kempf) Boger.  She was born May 13, 1927 in Snow Township, McLean County, near Coleharbor, ND.    She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.  She attended country school in Snow Township & graduated from the eighth grade.  In 1948 their family moved to the Benedict area because of the Garrison Dam being built.

Hilda married Ernest Kohler on April 14, 1950 at the Zion Lutheran Church parsonage in Max, ND.  Ernest & Hilda made their home in rural Benedict on the farm where they raised six children.  They were married 66 years.  Ernest died Nov. 6, 2016.

Hilda was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, ladies aid, & was a Sunday school teacher.

Family was very important to Hilda & always made birthdays & holidays special.  Hilda had a strong work ethic.  She was responsible for milking cows at the early age of nine.  She always baked, gardened, canned & worked along side her husband in milking cows & caring for chickens.  In her later years she enjoyed search-a-word books, watching Wheel of Fortune & Jeopardy. She especially enjoyed having visitors.

Hilda was a wonderful wife & mother.  She will be greatly missed by family & friends but we are so very thankful for all the wonderful years & memories.

Hilda is survived by daughters, Trudy Smith, Murfreesboro TN, Peggy (James) Sigman, Hazen ND; sons, Gary (Julie) Kohler, Terry (Mary) Kohler, both of Benedict ND, Roger (Judy) Kohler, Richland WA; son-in-law, Robert (Cindy) Petersen, Franklin TN; 10 grandchildren, Becky Spence, Jesse (Kerri) Kohler, Megan (Peter) Smith-Van Kuiken, Bryan (Nadja) Petersen, Trevor Kohler, Justin (Nanci) Kohler, Jaime (Casey) Sabot, Linnea Kohler, Ashley (Tim) Rath, Marcie (Mike) Krueger; 5 step-grandchildren, Dennis & Dorian Sigman, Michelle, Matt & Jeff (Tanya) Thomas;  19 great grandchildren,  2 step-great grandchildren,  1 step-great great grandson.  Sister, Ruby Westman, Brother, Melvin Boger;  Sisters-in-law, Anna Kohler, Martha Kohler, Jean Bush;  Brothers-in-law, Ervin Weishaar & John Bush;  and many nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ernest; daughter Carol Petersen;  sisters, Martha (Benny) Steinwand, Ida (Louie) Hesselgrave, Irene Boger, three infant brothers;  sisters & brothers-in-law, Myrtle Boger, Kermit Westman, Hank (Alma)(Leona) Kohler, Otto Kohler, Gust (Elaine) Kohler, Oscar Kohler, Ella Weishaar, Alma Erck; grandson-in-law, Tim Spence.    The family would like to thank LaVonne Gullickson for being such a wonderful caregiver & friend.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Concordia Lutheran Cemetery Fund, Concordia Lutheran Church or donors choice.
