Obituary
Howard "Wayne" Sorensen, 79, Garrison, died January 24, 2014 at the Garrison Memorial Hospital. A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 15, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. at the Garrison City Cemetery.
Howard "Wayne" Sorensen was born May 13, 1934 in Halliday, ND to Marguerite (Lynch) and Chris Sorensen. Wayne grew up and went to schools in Halliday and Garrison. In 1954 he enlisted in the US Air Force. Wayne and Beth Sparling were married in Breckenridge, MN in 1959. They lived together in Garrison where they raised three sons.
Wayne was a heavy equipment operator and a long time member of the International Union Of Operating Engineers. Wayne was a sports enthusiast. He favored rodeo, roping, and the western lifestyle. Wayne enjoyed a good visit with family and friends. He was also a member of the Garrison American Legion.
Wayne is survived by his sons Chris (Donna), Hazen, Scot (Robyn), Bismarck, and Doyle, Bemidji, MN; grandchildren Erika, Brian, Brent, and Paul; brothers Don (Jackie) and Daryl, Halliday; and sister Joy (Evan) Burr, Twin Buttes.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents Chris and Marguerite, his wife Beth, and sister Billy Faye.
