Obituary

After a long life filled with family, faith, and happiness, Irene Frances Olson Graeber Srb passed away on August 11, 2020 at the age of 99 at the Garrison Memorial Hospital with her family with her.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM CST Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Garrison.  Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM MST Thursday, August 20, 2020 at the Regent Cemetery, Regent, ND.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church.

Irene was born on July 4, 1921 as the eldest member of the Goodwin and Frances (Gallup) Olson family which numbered 18 children.  Her life began in a sod house located east of New England, ND.  As a young girl, Irene attended Cherry Butte School with many of her siblings and neighbor children.  When she entered high school, she moved into Regent to live in the Larson house during the school year.  After she graduated from high school, she married Harold Graeber, Dec. 22, 1940 in a double wedding with Harold's sister, Winnifred Graeber and Howard Bolte. They lived in Regent, ND.  Harold passed away on October 30, 1965.  Irene married Joe Srb on December 29, 1969. Joe passed away on November 28, 1994 in Dickinson, ND.  Irene worked at the U.S. Post Office in Regent, until retiring in 1982 and also at Junger Implement, Coop Store and Regent Lumber Company.  Irene and Joe moved to Dickinson in 1977.  In 1998 Irene moved to Garrison, ND.

Irene was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, taking part in the Martha Circle, Garrison Bridge Club and Garrison Lamplighter Senior Citizens. Irene enjoyed quilting, sewing, crocheting, playing cards and bingo, and reading until her vision deteriorated from macular degeneration.

Irene is survived by her daughter, Vicki (Bill) Fure, Garrison; daughter -in-law, Lu Graeber, Garrison; grandsons: Tod (Tonya) Graeber, Garrison, Bill (Cheryl) Fure, Camano Island, WA, Scott (Jean) Graeber, Bismarck; granddaughter, Wendi Fure, Minot; great grandchildren: Caylie Graeber, Bismarck, Kara Graeber, Bismarck and Kale Graeber, Garrison; her sisters: Mavis (Bud) Halverson, Stanley, Gladys Collins, WA., Arloween Risner, AZ, Nadine Maychrzak, WA.; her brothers:  Darrell Olson, ID and Myron Olson, WA and  Joe's children and grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Goodwin and Frances Olson, husband, Harold Graeber, and Joe Srb, 2 sons, Arlin and Wade Graeber, one granddaughter, Amy Graeber, brothers: Harley, Herbert, Gerald, Ernie, Goodwin, Jr. and Harold Olson, sisters: Doris Zander, Della Bailey, Jean Stewart, Darlys Burch, and Arlys Douglas, her father and mother -in law, Ernest and Alice Graeber and all of Harold's family.
