Iveas (Retterath) Carlson was born June 28, 1923 to Joe and Effie (Clark) Retterath on the family farm in rural Douglas.  Iveas spent her childhood on the farm with her five sisters and one brother.

She married August Carlson on April 25, 1942.  They bought their own farmstead in Douglas Township, raising small grain and livestock until retirement.  They were both always active in Church and community, serving numerous positions throughout the years.

Iveas and August retired to Garrison in 1983 where they enjoyed 29 years of retirement and total of 70 years marriage before his death in 2012.  They loved to travel and it was their favorite hobby besides entertaining family and friends.  Games, good conversation and good food were always available to anyone who visited.

Iveas is survived by two sons, Linton Carlson (North Plains, OR), Terry Carlson (Bismarck, ND); daughter Colleen (Tony) Barnes (LongSutton, Lincolnshire, England); 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Iveas was preceded in death by her husband, parents and 6 siblings.  She was the last Retterath survivor and also the last Carlson.
