Janet M. Krzmarzick, 83, Garrison, ND died on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at St. Alexius Hospital in Bismarck, ND. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 8, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Garrison. Burial will be in the St. Nicholas Catholic Cemetery, Garrison.

Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home in Garrison. Rosary will be held at St. Nicholas Catholic Church on Sunday, May 7, 2017 at 7:00 p.m.

Janet was born April 4, 1934 in Arcadia, WI to Frank and Lucille Kupietz. She moved with her family to many cities throughout Wisconsin, Minnesota and eventually moving to Garrison in 1948 when her father worked on the Garrison Dam. She attended school in Garrison until she was 16, she quit school to work and help support her family. She later received her GED.

Janet married Edward Krzmarzick at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Garrison on October 26, 1957. Together, they farmed and ranched 16 miles northwest of Garrison and raised their 4 children, Michael, Missy, Jim and Tom. They moved to Garrison in 1995.

In her younger years, Janet worked at Elsie's Cafe. Interested in the medical field, she found employment at St. Joe's in Minot as a surgical assistant. Eventually, Janet became an aide at the Garrison Nursing Home and worked nights for many years. At the age of 48, Janet decided to go to Nursing school and enrolled the fall of 1982 at Williston State College. She received her degree in 1983. She went back to work as an LPN at the Garrison Nursing Home and continued working there until she retired in 2003, after the tragic death of her husband Ed.

Janet will be remembered for her strong, everlasting Catholic faith. She was always encouraging her family and taught everyone around her what it meant to be strong, stay positive, and have faith in the Lord. She enjoyed reading, cheering on the Minnesota Twins, going to the casino, and shopping for the best bargain. She loved her family and shared many holiday meals at her home. Janet supported her grandchildren and attended many events with them. For the last 11 years, she reserved Tuesdays as her special day to spend with her granddaughter Mara. She was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church and served diligently for St. Ann's Altar Society for countless events.

Janet will be deeply missed by her children, Michael Krzmarzick, Arlington, VA; Mary (Donovan) Iglehart, Garrison, and their children Matthew and Callie, Bismarck, ND; James (Karen) Krzmarzick, Garrison, and their children Jenna, Joey and Mara; Thomas (Diane) Krzmarzick, Garrison and their daughter Courtney, Clarksville, TN. Sisters, Junelle Hanks, Coon Rapids, MN; Jayne Leight, Stacey, MN. Brothers, Jerome Kupietz, Las Vegas, NV; Jerold (Buddy) Kupietz, MN; Robbie Kupietz, Shakopee, ND. Brother-in-laws, Delmar (Margaret) Fliginger, Garrison; Wayne Krzmarzick, Garrison. Sister-in-law, Mary Lou Conley, Yukon, OK. A very close niece, Susan Steinwand and many other special nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Edward; twin sister Jeannette Fliginger; sisters, JoAnne Gloe, Joyel (Butch) Jacques and brothers, Frank Kupietz, Jr., James Kupietz.
