Obituary

Jeanne D. Rensch, 84, Garrison, died on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at the Benedictine Living Center in Garrison. Jeanne's wishes were to donate her body to the University of North Dakota, in hopes that it will help science find ways to combat the effects of Alzheimer's and other illnesses.

Jeanne's family wishes to celebrate her life on Monday at 10:30 am at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Garrison. A rosary will be said on Sunday at 6:00 pm at the church.

Jeanne D. Rensch was born March 1, 1931, in Makoti, ND to Charles and Agnes (Nelson) Liffrig. She was raised and educated in Makoti, graduating from Makoti High School in 1948. She married Harold Rensch on September 29, 1949 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Makoti. Jeanne knew of Harold her whole life. He was the son of a well-respected family in the small community which they both lived, but she did not start dating him until after he returned from the war (WWII). Even after 65 years of marriage, Jeanne smiled at all the memories. Since the day they were married she was not only his partner in marriage, but in business as well. After moving to Garrison in the spring of 1952, Jeanne was the bookkeeper for Rensch Farm Store. She later worked in the parts department for many, many years, a job she loved very much.

Jeanne was very active in the community. She was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, St. Ann's Altar Society, and the Hugh P. Minehan American Legion Post #49 Auxiliary. Jeanne volunteered at the Benedictine Living Center in Garrison over 40 years and was also very active at the Camp of the Cross, Dickens Village Festival, and was a dedicated "pop top" collector for the Ronald McDonald House.

Jeanne is survived by her husband, Harold, Garrison; sons, David (Kathy) Rensch, Dwight (Robin) Rensch, all of Garrison, Doug (Fiancée Dawn Corbin), New Town; daughters, Brenda Thompson, Everson, Washington, and Barbi (Shane) Carroll, Phenix City, Alabama; grandchildren, Chad (Kim) Rensch, Timothy (Kim) Rensch, Jeff (Brandee) Rensch, Sarah (fiancé Michael Meadows), Robert (Kyleen) Guttormson, Ken Rensch, Steven (Jess) Rensch, Danielle Rensch, Lance (Tracy) Thompson, Shane (Melissa) Thompson, Mitch (Fiancée Lacey McNeilly) Thompson, Lee (Katie) Rensch, Noel Rensch, Sierra Rensch, and Levi, Jake and Avery Carroll; 21 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and a brother, Charles Jack (Lois) Liffrig.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Beverlee Jeanne Guttormson, grandson, Glenn Spencer Rensch, granddaughter, Cassi Dee Rensch, grandson, Daniel Lee Guttormson and sister and brother-in-law, Agnes Joanne and Robert Starleaf.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the Camp of the Cross, St. Ann's Altar Society, Alzheimer's research, or the donor's choice.
