Jerome was born October 12, 1929 to John and Rose (Lehse) Bauer at the family farm. He attended rural school and grew up on the farm. He married Marlene Boger on June 6, 1960 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Garrison. Together they entered the farming and dairy business, selling and transporting their own cream to Bismarck Creamery and later selling milk to Winger Cheese and Drake Creamery. They had their dairy cattle for many years before "retiring". He then raised beef cattle for a short time before actually retiring.
Jerome loved the quiet, independent life of being a farmer. His true passion was his family, in which he instilled the virtues of hard work and integrity to those who called him father and grandfather.
Jerome is survived by his wife, Marlene, four children, Marcia (David) Gaertner, Hugo, MN, John (Robyn) Bauer, Garrison, ND, Joel (Nicolle) Bauer, Coleharbor, ND, Jay (Heather) Bauer, Sterling, ND; grandchildren, Jarett (Morgan), Brittany (Chuck), Heather (Mike), Christopher, Zachary (Beth), Luci, Tyler, Justin, and Samantha; and great grandchildren, Finn, Bennett, and Maximus.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Carroll Bauer, and several brothers and sisters-in-law.
The family would like to give a special thanks to CHI, St. Alexius Health Care and Hospice for their wonderful help and support.
