Karl Norman Narum, 96, of Garrison, ND, formerly of Douglas, entered into eternal life on October 18, 2014 at Garrison, ND. A celebration of Karl's life will be held at the First Congregational Church in Garrison, ND on October 22, 2014 at 11:00 am with Reverend Steve Holmes officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00pm to 6:00 pm at Thompson Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND.
Karl Norman Narum was born July 5, 1918, on the family homestead in Spring Lake Township, Ward County, rural Douglas, ND to Knut and Pauline (Kampen) Narum. Karl attended Crystal Consolidated School. On September 26, 1969 he married Ida Schock of Garrison, ND. Karl was a member of the First Congregational Church in Garrison, ND.
Karl was a musician at heart, in farmer coveralls. He farmed five miles west of Max, ND. After retiring, he shared his love of music by entertaining residents of the McLean Manor, the Garrison Nursing Home and his church by playing musical selections on his guitar, accordion, harmonica, and violin.
Karl is survived by his sister Alice Jaeger, Minot, ND, brother-in-law Charles "Red" McConn, Minot, ND, stepdaughter Leona "Lee" Bitz, Bismarck, ND, stepson Vernon (Georgia) Schock, Fargo, ND, and stepdaughter-in-law Elaine Schock, Kenmare, ND, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Karl was preceded in death by his parents Knut and Pauline Narum, brothers Leonard (Lila) and Ole Narum, sisters Cora (Elmo) Erlien, Mable McConn and Nora Narum, brothers-in-law Clifford Larson and Anton Jaeger, nephew Gary Ellis Narum, niece Julie Kay Narum, Ida Narum, stepson Dennis Schock, stepdaughter Arlene (John) Zietz and stepson-in-law Ervin Bitz.
