Obituary

Kelly Erdmann, 57, Garrison, died on Sunday, June 12, 2016 from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident near his home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 17th, 2016 at 10:00 am at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Garrison. Burial will be at the Garrison Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4 to 7 at Thompson Funeral Home in Garrison.

Kelly was born September 28th, 1958 to Hilmer and Nettie (Wegner) Erdmann. He spent his entire childhood year's custom harvesting with his Mom, Dad, brother and sister. He graduated from Garrison High School in 1976 and later attended welding school in Cleveland Ohio.
In December 1976 he married the love of his life, and best friend Kristi Grover. Together they welcomed their first child, Shad, to the world in 1977. Two years later their daughter Jessica followed.

Kelly developed a deep love of farming during his many years as a custom harvester. He continued the family business with his own children up until 1996 when he decided to become a full time McLean county farmer with his wife and children. He believed in teaching his children the value of hard work that would carve them into the strong adults they are today.

Kelly loved to fish. Anywhere the fish were biting, whether on the lake or on the river, you could catch Kelly fishing. Even in the middle of winter in his heated pontoon on the Missouri river. During Spring and Summer work he would try to catch an hour or 2 in the mornings before he headed to the fields.

Although Kelly was not a man of many words, he was extremely proud of his son and daughter and all of his grandchildren and their accomplishments. Kelly saved every Father's Day card and birthday card he was ever given. It was just one of his ways he could show how much he really cared. As one of his oldest friends said "Kelly was one of the best damn friends a guy could have."

Kelly is survived by, and will be deeply missed by, his loving wife of 39 years, Kristi. Their son, Shad(Kristin) Erdmann, Bismarck, and their three children, Grace (13), Bailey (10) and Lucas (7); daughter Jessica (Matt), Gillette, WY and their daughter Ashlyn (11); brother, Jake (LuLu) of Garrison; sister, Brenda (David) Hagerty of London, England; mother-in-law, Joelle Hewitt, Arizona; sister-in-law, Kim (Terry) Birkholz, Alaska; nephews Jonathan, Brock and Jordon Birkholz and their families, Alaska; brother-in-law, Kevin (DeeDee) Grover, and nephews Brendan and Logan of Bowdon, ND; and his God Parents, who were very special to Kelly, Loren and Darlene Bauman, Golden Valley, ND.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hilmer and Nettie Erdmann,
Father-in-law, Jack Grover, and sisters-in-law, Susie Erdmann and Peggy Grover.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Garrison Fire and Ambulance departments.
