Kenneth was born February 7, 1943 in Minot, ND to Samuel and Mary (Zabolotney) Honcharoff. He attended country school in rural Max and graduated from Max High School in 1961. He continued his education at NDSU before being drafted into the US Army, where he served in Korea during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged on August 26, 1966. Upon returning home he began his lifelong career farming and ranching north of Max. He was very proud to have the Honcharoff farm recognized as a Centennial Farm by the State of North Dakota. Beside farming and ranching, he also worked for McElwain Construction for a few years.
After fair warning from numerous people, Kenneth bucked them all and married Ruth Olson on July 30, 1983 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Max! They made their home north of Max where they continued to farm and ranch and raise their family.
Kenneth loved his life as a husband, father, grandfather, and farmer and rancher. He thoroughly enjoyed working with the cows and horses on the farm. He was instrumental in organizing the Max Rodeo Association. He also participated in team roping and other various rodeo events with his old buddies. Two things that Kenneth absolutely loved was baking huge batches of cookies with his children and their friends and deer hunting in the fall with his children and close friend, Richard.
Kenneth is survived by his wife Ruth, Max, Chelsey (Chad) Ellis, and their children, Nicholas and Noah, Arnegard, ND; Jason (Jenn Mittelsteadt) and children, Ivy, Wyatt, and Ryder Mittelsteadt, Max, ND; Amber (Alex Cadwell) Honcharoff, Maplewood, MN; sister, Melody (Al) Kahlbaugh, Grand Forks, and their children, Grant, Lee and Travis Kahlbaugh, Delight (Randy Bullock) Sonntag, and their children Preston and Shelby Sonntag, and numerous Olson nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Gene Honcharoff, Grant Kahlbaugh's wife, Cheryl Kahlbaugh, and Delight Sonntag's husband, Jefrrey "Sonny" Sonntag.
