Laura L. (Hultberg) Rime was born August 16, 1918 to William and Lillian (Johnson) Hultberg in Coleharbor, ND where she was raised and educated. She graduated from Coleharbor High School in 1936 and continued her education with business classes at Bismarck Junior College.
Following her schooling, Laura worked at the Garrison Theatre which was then owned and operated by her parents. This is where she met her future husband of over 60 years, Russel Rime. They were married on June 25, 1939. Laura and Russel raised their 5 children near Emmet, ND on the Rime homestead just west of Garrison. Laura planted gardens and many flowers, including peonies and petunias in her yard and around their home. Some of her nephews called her "Auntie Flowers".
When she wasn't busy working around the house, she kept busy as a member of the Roundtable Homemakers Club and serving as a 4-H leader. She was also a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Emmet and later St. Paul Lutheran Church in Garrison. Laura was also a wonderful baker and enjoyed canning. In her later years she loved to play SKIP-BO and bingo.
Upon their retirement, Russel and Laura began spending their winters in Arizona. That is where Laura discovered her hidden talent of painting. She took some classes to learn how to paint with oil and acrylic. She has painted many beautiful deserts, mountains, still life, water, and some landscapes.
Laura is survived by four children; Ray (Cathy) Rime, Livingston, TX, Menton "Tony" Rime, Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Larry (Connie) Rime, Garrison, and Lona (Brock) Affeldt, Mandan, ND; 9 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 2 great great-grandchildren; two brothers, Harold and Arnold Hultberg, and one sister-in-law, Belva Rime.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Russel; one son, Walter; four brothers, Henning, Lloyd, Tim, and Tom; two sisters, Myrtle and Emily; and two grandchildren.
