Obituary

Our beloved mother, Lenore Margaret Huettl, 97, passed away at the Benedictine Living Center, Garrison on October 28, 2014.
Services will be Friday, 10:30 a.m., October 31, 2014, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Garrison, with the Rev. John Kandathiparambil officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 30, from 2 to 6 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home, Garrison. Visitation will also be at the church until one hour before the services. Rosary will be Thursday October 30, at 7:30 p.m.

Lenore Margaret Berg was born on a farm near Calio, ND, August 7, 1917, the third child born to Mathias and Catherine (Zimmer) Berg. The family later moved to Clyde where Lenore attended grade and high school, graduating in 1936. After high school she worked for the surrounding neighbors and also as a cook for threshing crews.

Lenore obtained her teaching certificate and then began teaching elementary grades. She started her teaching career at the Hackett School at Emmet in 1939 and taught there until her marriage.
She married Clem Huettl on July 30, 1940 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Munich, ND. They raised their family on a farm near Max where Lenore was active in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and ladies aid. She later became a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church and St. Ann's Altar Society. She was an active member of the Max Homemakers Club and Senior Center where she aided in the formation of the senior meals program. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo, doing crossword puzzles, reading, crocheting and was an excellent cook, seamstress and gardener. Her family and friends cherish the many quilts and doilies she created.

She had a deep faith in God which she instilled in her family who were of the utmost importance in her life.

She is survived by her eight children, 24 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are two sisters: Emma Meagher, Sacramento, CA; Ida Berg, Portland, OR; two brothers: Harold Berg and Richard (Rosalie) Berg both of Devils Lake, two brother's in-law: Ralph Nosbusch, Devils Lake, and Art Brown, Spokane, WA; one sister in-law: Betty Berg, Lakewood, CO; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Clem; her parents; three sons in-law, August Peterson, Gordon Stumvoll and Harold Fetzer; one great-granddaughter, Nevaeh Bellovich; sisters, Helen Brown, Hilda (Matthew) Michels, Mary Ann Nosbusch, Inez Berg, infant sister Margaret; brothers, George (Alma) Berg, Omar (Geraldine) Berg, Herman (Audrey) Berg, sister in-law, Dolores Berg, brother in-law, George Meagher.
