Obituary

Leonard Dahl, 83, Ryder, ND died February 14, 2020 at CHI St. Alexius Health, Bismarck. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Roseglen, ND with Wayne Johnson officiating. Interment will be held in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Monday at Thompson Funeral Home, Garrison and will continue one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church.

Leonard was born May 19, 1936 in Garrison, ND the son of Engel and Esther (Dahlberg) Dahl. He was raised on the family farm and educated in a country school.  He graduated from Ryder High School in 1956. Leonard married Florence Franklin on September 22, 1958 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Roseglen. They lived and farmed NW of Roseglen. He also owned and operated "Dahl's Excavating". He quit farming in 2005 but continued to enjoy putting up his hay.

He served on the Immanuel Lutheran Church and Bethlehem Lutheran Church councils and was a member of the Hiddenwood Sportsman Club. Leonard enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, attending auction sales and watching old western shows and movies.

Leonard is survived by his wife of 61 years, Florence of Ryder; his son, Roy (Julie) Dahl of Minot, ND; his daughters, Gina (Monty) Schenfisch of Makoti, ND and Penny Dahl (Byron Young Bird) of Parshall. ND; his 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; his brother, Lloyd Dahl of Minot, ND; his sister, Anna Watson of Brighton, CO and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Engel and Esther Dahl.
