Llewellyn "Louie" Behles, 86, Garrison, died on Monday, August 4, 2014 at the Benedictine Living Center. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:30 am at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Garrison. A Rosary will be said on Thursday beginning at 7:30 pm at the church. Visitation will be held on Thursday from noon to 6:00 at Thompson Funeral Home in Garrison.

Louie was born June 21, 1928 near the Endres Community, east and north of Garrison, to Nicholas and Rose (Krebsbach) Behles. At the age of 2, his family moved south of Garrison, where Louie's dad worked at the Stephen's Mine. At age 14, his family moved to a farm 4 miles northwest of Garrison, where Louie would spend the rest of his life farming and raising a family.

Louie married Bertha Heppner on May 25, 1958 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Garrison. They lived on the family farm raising cattle and small grains, and their 10 children. Along with farming, in the late 60's, he hauled rock that helped form the Snake Creek Embankment. A side job Louie also enjoyed was setting up pool tables in the area. Life changed for Louie and the kids when Bertha was tragically killed in a grain truck accident in the fall of 1978. Louie remained on the farm, and with help of his children, continued the farming operation. He retired from farming in 1993, whatever that meant, and spent time traveling. Even upon his "retirement", Louie spent much of his time on the farm, helping his sons with parts runs and other aspects of the farming operation. There wasn't a lot of time for many hobbies, but in his spare time, Louie enjoyed a good game of pool.

Louie is survived by his children, Brenda (Larry) Thurn, Cindy (Bill) Shultz, Colette (Kelly) Giffey, Berna (Larry) Pope, Clarence (Darci) Behles, Beverly (Todd) Ellwein, Bruce Behles, Carol (Pete) Fletcher, Carmen (Dave) Roedocker and Corey (Cyndie) Behles.
