Lois Rustad, 82, Bismarck, formerly of Roseglen, died on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at her home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 pm at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Garrison. Burial will be at East Immanuel Cemetery in Roseglen.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5 to 7 at Thompson Funeral Home in Garrison.
Lois was born January 2, 1935 at her grandparents' home in Makoti, ND to Melvin and Helen (Timm) Bjornholt. She was delivered by her grandfather, Dr. Timm. She was baptized at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Emmet and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Ryder. She grew up on the former Timm farm in Emmet where she attended rural grade school. She later attended Garrison High School, graduating in 1953.
Lois married Robert Rustad on December, 1953. They lived on the Rustad farm until 1965 when they purchased the Oscar Johnson farm where they lived, farmed and raised their two children, Ronald and Bonnie. Lois was employed at the White Shield School for several years as the secretary at the high school.
Lois was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Roseglen where she taught Sunday school, was active with the ladies aid and was also assistant organist for many years.
Lois is survived by her son, Ronald (Jackie) Rustad, Bismarck, ND; daughter, Bonnie (Jerry) Lorenz, Valley City, OH; grandsons, Jordan Rustad, Garrison, ND, Elliott and Kelly Lorenz, Chicago, IL, Taylor Lorenz, Strongsville, OH, Jared Rustad, Emmet, ND, and Justin Rustad, Bismarck, ND; great grandson, Landon Rustad, Killdeer, ND; and one brother, John (Ruby) Bjornholt, Fountain Hill, AZ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Robert, and grandson, Jeremy Rustad.
