Obituary

Lorna Mae Johnson Sambor 99, Max, entered eternal life with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 20, 2020.  A public visitation (masks required) will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2020 from 3 to 6 pm at Thompson Funeral Home in Garrison.  A private family service will be held on Friday, October 30, 2020 at 1:30 pm at Thompson Funeral Home in Garrison.  Burial will be held at the Max Baptist Cemetery.

Lorna Mae Johnson was born on a farm near Douglas, ND on August 27, 1921 to Carl and Olive Johnson.  She graduated from Douglas High School.  While in school, Lorna participated in choir, singing in trio's and as a soloist.  Her father Carl died at a young age, so her mother and the 5 girls ran the farm.

Lorna married Edward Sambor at Calvary Chapel in Minot.  They established a small farm between Max and Douglas.  They attended the Methodist church in Douglas where she met her lifelong friend, Annie Semmen.  They began to sign together at many church and community events.  She also enjoyed singing with her sisters.

Lorna was a hard worker tending to the cattle, her huge garden and canning.  She was famous for her caramel rolls and sour cream raisin pie.  She was the cook at the Max Café for several years where she so enjoyed interactions with the customers.  Lorna also loved making trips to Washington to visit her sister-in-law, Lena Sambor.

Lorna is survived by her children, Connie Sambor, Phyllis Seay, Carsen, and Kent Sambor; grandsons, Mark Sambor and Tim McLean; 3 great grandchildren, Sonya Stang, Logan and Tyler McLean; sister, Phyllis Narum; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie, parents, Carl and Olive Johnson, sisters Mathelde Conboy, Evelyn Meronuck, Margaret Scurlock and Lila Fannik, nieces, Betty Anne Scurlock and Kathy Krebsbach, Marjorie Fannik and nephews, Terry Martin and Richard Meronuck.

The greatest desire in Lorna's life was that all her loved ones would know the Savior and not miss heaven so we all would be there for the Grand Reunion Day.
