Arthur Lowell Nelson was born January 16, 1952 in Minot, ND to Lloyd "Buzz" and Inez (Erlien) Nelson. He was raised and educated in the Max and Benedict area and graduated from Max High School in 1970. Arthur served in the US Army from 1972 to 1974, spending one year in Germany. He also served in the Army National Guard from 1987 to 1994 ranked as Sargent, and was a heavy equipment operator. He worked for the Soo Line Railroad from 1976 to 2000 and was most recently employed by Stata Inc. of Minot from 2003 to 2011.
Lowell was dedicated to his family. He was always there to support his brother; and his nagging sisters could depend on him no matter what. His pride and joy was his daughter Amanda and she will miss him dearly.
Lowell was also quite the handyman and was always willing to help out his friends, whether it was meat cutting, making sausage, or doing any building project. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting and fishing, and in his later years was known for whipping up a mean sour cream and raisin pie. He was an active member of the Benedict American Legion Post # for 28 years.
Lowell is survived by his daughter Amanda Nelson, St. Cloud, MN, mother, Inez Nelson, Carlton, OR; brother, Dwight (Kellie) Nelson, Beaver Creek, MN; sisters, Penny Gaskell, Newberg, OR, Jackie (Lew) Walters, Carlton, OR, Heidi (Ron) Adamski, Newberg, OR, Gisele Nelson, Carlton, OR; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd "Buzz" Nelson.
