Obituary

Lozina Hazel Frank, "Grandma Louie", 87 years old, of Garrison, ND, formerly of Douglas, Mohall and Sherwood, passed away at Trinity Hospital in Minot, ND, on January 17, 2012. Rosary will be said at 7:00 pm on Friday, January 20, 2012 at St. Nicholas Church of Garrison. Funeral Services/Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 am, Saturday, January 21, 2012 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church. Burial will be held at 1:00 pm at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Douglas ND.

Lozina (Harriman) Frank was born on August 28, 1924 in Bismarck, ND to Pearl (Bartron) and Shadrack Harriman. She was raised in Bismarck and Douglas, ND and graduated from Douglas High School and later from the St. Joseph's Nurses Program as a Registered Nurse. She was a Cadet Nurse during World War II where she proudly served in Denver, CO and Seattle, WA.

Soon after, she married the love of her life and high school sweetheart, Roland Walter Frank on January 16, 1947. They lived in Douglas where she and Roland had seven children (she called them the 7 wonders). In 1967, Roland sadly passed away unexpectedly, leaving Lozina to successfully support her family working in Garrison, Huntsville, Alabama, Fort Yates, and finally again in Garrison at the Nursing Home, where she was the Director of Nurses until she retired in 1981.

Lozina joyfully recalled her younger years in an autobiography "Chapters of My Life" where she wrote of her life with her sister Audrey at her grandparents' farm, and the times she enjoyed with Roland, Iveas, Clarence, Ruth, Emma, Lawrence, Dorothy, Jimmy, Hilbert, Beulah, and Kenny. She reminisced over "barn dance" days when she and Roland would dance to "Big Band" music.

In her later years, "Grandma Louie" loved to be a spectator at her grandchildren's activities. She created wonderful scrapbooks for her grandchildren to enjoy. She was an avid Bridge player, advocate for the elderly, and resident "medical expert", to her friends in Garrison and Mohall. Lozina enjoyed chauffeuring her Mohall friends to casinos and faithfully entering the Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes.

Life turned full-circle when after nearly 30 years, Lozina returned to her roots in Garrison in "The Meadows" where she happily lived the last years with her childhood friend Iveas Carlson as her neighbor.

Lozina is survived by her younger sister: Audrey Corp, Huntsville, Alabama, sister and brother-in-Law: Marjorie and Harold "Dee" Edwards, sister-in-law, Carol Frank, all of Garrison and many, many special friends; sons; Ray Frank of Minot, Shadrack "Tom" Frank (Janice), Mandan, ND and Dan Frank (Lenore), Mandan, ND; daughters: Donna Koppinger, Overland Park, KS, Constance Jensen (Glenn), Mexico, Mo., Sandra Crawford (John), Garrison, ND, and Jennifer Hefter (Jeff), Sherwood, ND; grandchildren: Zachary Gillihan, Christopher Gillihan, Todd Koppinger(Laura), Joseph Koppinger (Jen), Anne Culbertson (Mike), Donovan Eslinger (DeAnn), Nicole Eslinger, Natalie (Shane) Yeager, Jason Frank (Kalli), Jamie Amundsen (James), Tyler Jensen (Tasha), Shane Crawford (Laura), Heath Crawford, Ramsey Crawford, Brett Hefter and Brady Hefter; and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Roland and great-granddaughter, Emma Pearl.
