Luke Hasenwinkel, 21, Garrison, died on Sunday, December 23 near Garrison. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:30 am at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Garrison. A rosary will be said on Friday beginning at 7:00 pm at the church. Burial will be at St. Nicholas Catholic Cemetery in Garrison.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 9 am to 5 pm at Thompson Funeral Home in Garrison.
Luke was born September 23, 1991 in Minot, ND to Steve and Roxanne (Plorin) Hasenwinkel. He was raised and educated in Garrison, graduating from Garrison High School in 2010, and being named Homecoming King the same year. While in high school, Luke worked at Garrison Super Valu as a carry-out and stock clerk. After graduation, Luke attended college in Wahpeton for two years. While in college, Luke worked the summers at MEC Services in Garrison and also Garrison Hospital. He was currently employed with New Horizon Electric in Garrison and had just received his acceptance into the Dakota JATC Training Program as a newly indentured apprentice electrician.
Luke was a laid back, go with the flow guy. During his high school years he was involved in baseball, basketball, and during the summers, Legion baseball. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, cruising around and hanging with his buddies. Luke was very much his own person, who took his own paths in life. He never had a cross word with anyone and had numerous friends. He also enjoyed working on cars, especially his beloved El Camino.
He will be greatly missed by his mom, dad, little sister Libbi, and hunting buddy, "Bailey", the family's chocolate lab.
Luke is survived by his parents, Steve and Roxanne, sister, Libbi, all of Garrison; and numerous aunts, uncles, great-aunts and great-uncles, cousins and too many special friends to list.
He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Ellard and Joyce Hasenwinkel, formerly of Velva, and maternal grandparents, Annette Lexa and Sam Plorin, formerly of Bottineau.
Memorials may be made in Luke's honor to Titans Legion Baseball, Pheasant's Forever, and Garrison Fire Department.
