Madeline Vought, 95, Garrison, died on Monday, September 10, 2012 at the Garrison Hospital Nursing Facility. At the request of Madeline, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date.
Madeline E. Vought was born December 20, 1916 to Herman and Bertha (Cook) Krantz on the family homestead in Blackwater Township near Emmet, ND. She attended rural in schools near Emmet. She married Eugene Vought on December 21, 1939 in Washburn, ND. They made their home in Garrison except for the couple years they lived in Tacoma, WA from 1943 to 1945. Madeline was employed at the Garrison Memorial Hospital for 35 years as a nurse's aide and when she wasn't working, she volunteered for any event or help that was needed. Her dedication to the hospital, especially the "third floor" was a true gift to those she worked with and helped. Beyond work and volunteering, Madeline was an active member of the Town and Country Circle at the First Congregational Church in Garrison.
Madeline loved to read and go for walks. She also knitted afghans, most of which went to her grandchildren. Her golden years were spent on the "wild side", playing card games with her great grandchildren. They loved to play blitz, rummy, and poker with great grandma; mostly because they always seemed to win her pennies and nickels.
Madeline is survived by her children, Myrna Davis, Berthoud, CO, Douglas Vought, Tucson, AZ, victor Vought, Denver, CO, Linda Vought, Garrison, ND ,Carlotta (Wally) Wretling, Garrison, ND; son-in-law, Marvin Gisi, Harvey, ND; sister-in-law, Catherine Vought, Cortez, CO; brother-in-law, Bennie Krueger, Minot, ND; grandchildren, Bob (Connie) Davis, Dan (Annette) Davis, Cheryl (Tracy) Bischoff, Stephanie (Richard) Lundy, Michele (Del) Alvarez, Chantel (Dion) Rude, Jeff (Madonna) Wretling, Kim (Chad) Rensch, Nicolle (Joel) Bauer; 26 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Eugene, daughter, Judy, and 8 siblings.
