Margaret Staehr, 81, Garrison, died on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at the Garrison Memorial Hospital Nursing Facility.  Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at 2:00 pm at Peace Lutheran Church in Garrison.  Burial will be held in the spring at the Garrison City Cemetery.

Margaret was born on May 23, 1940, in Parshall, ND to Jake and  Gertrude (Johnson) Heib.  She was raised and educated in Elbowoods and Garrison, graduating from Garrison High School in 1958.  She married Karel Staehr on October 19, 1958, in Garrison.  They made their home on a farm south of Douglas where Margaret helped with all facets of farming and ranching while raising her son Shannon and daughter Sherlynn.

Margaret never let the grass grow under her feet.  While helping with the farm, she also worked at the Garrison Ambulance, Garrison Hospital, VJ's Jewelry, Totten Trail, Garrison State Bank, and Cenex of Garrison.

In her spare time Margaret enjoyed gardening and share her harvest with everyone!  Above everything Margaret's family came first, especially when it came to her grandchildren.  They were literally her whole world.  She will be forever missed by her children, grandchildren, and sisters.

Margaret is survived by her son, Shannon (Brenda) Staehr, daughter, Sherlynn (Mike) Oster, all of Garrison; grandchildren, Seth Oster, December Oster, Sierra Oster, Harley Oster, and Kedra Staehr; great grandchildren, Gemma, Quincey, and Artemus; sisters, Luella Laudahl, Marian Staehr, both of Casa Grande, AZ, Edith (David) McNamara, New Town, ND; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Karel, parents, Jake and Gertrude (Boyd) Heib, 3 brothers-in-law.
