Muriel W. Conklin, 94, of Minot, formerly of Garrison and Bismarck, passed away on September 13, 2016 at a Minot care facility. Her funeral service will be held at 11 am Monday, September 19, 2016 at First Congregational Church in Garrison. Burial will follow at the Garrison City Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at Thompson Funeral Home, Garrison, ND, on Sunday, September 18, 2016 from 3 to 5 pm.

Muriel (Sillers) Conklin was born on July 17, 1922 to John and Winifred (McDonnell) Sillers. She was raised on her family's farm near Calvin, North Dakota.

On December 24, 1944, Muriel married Allen L. Conklin in Garrison. They had 4 children: Arlene, Art, Jean and Ann. They farmed west of Garrison until Allen's death in 1986.

When her children grew older, Muriel worked at the Coast to Coast store for many years. Muriel was involved in 4-H, Farmers Union, Banner Methodist Church and Homemakers. She enjoyed baking, canning, gardening and sewing. After Muriel moved to Bismarck, she was active at the Senior Citizen Center, and enjoyed socializing and playing cards with friends.

Muriel is survived by her children, Arlene (Dan) Wentworth of Anchorage, AK; Art (Deb) Conklin of Oakes, ND; Jean (Dave) Senger of Minot, ND; Ann (Mark) Elder of Bismarck, ND; nine grandchildren, Jennifer (John) Carlson, McKenna (Pablo Rodriguez) Wentworth, Danielle (Greg) Brown, Jeff (Julie) Senger, Joe (Megan) Wentworth, Kristofer Conklin, Leigh (Kyle) Delahoyde, Sarah Elder and Matt Elder; eight great-grandchildren, Chloe, Shea, Sela, Jaron, Cidney, Ashtyn, Holden and Graham.

She is preceded in death by her husband; grandson Charles; parents; siblings, Archie Sillers, John Sillers, Dorothy Finken and Janet Page, and long-time companion, Herb Christman.
